Iran Threatens Regional Energy Facilities After Trump Warns of Infrastructure Strikes Over Hormuz
Iran has warned it will target regional infrastructure, including energy facilities linked to U.S. interests, if Washington attacks Iranian bridges or power plants. The warning follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement that the United States would strike Iranian infrastructure whenever Tehran attacks commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
An Iranian military source said Tehran remains determined to maintain control over the strategic waterway and will not allow it to become a source of threats against the country. The source added that commercial shipping can continue safely if vessels coordinate with Iranian authorities and follow the procedures set by Tehran.
The official warned that any U.S. strike on Iranian infrastructure would be met with attacks on regional energy facilities connected to American interests. The source also claimed Iran has demonstrated its ability to strike selected targets and cautioned Washington against further military escalation.
The latest exchange of threats comes as U.S. and Iranian forces continue trading strikes despite a Pakistan-brokered framework agreement signed in June aimed at ending the conflict and advancing a lasting peace deal.
