Iran Threatens Expanded Strikes on US Warships as Maritime Blockade Continues
Iran Threatens Wider Strikes on US Warships Over Maritime Blockade
Iran’s unified military command has warned that it could expand and intensify attacks on US naval vessels if Washington continues its maritime blockade and what Tehran describes as the “harassment of Iranian ships.”
The warning was issued by the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters in a statement carried by Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB.
The threat came after US forces said they had struck three Iranian oil tankers earlier on 5 September, further escalating tensions between the two countries.
Iran’s latest warning signals the possibility of broader military action against US naval forces if the blockade and attacks on Iranian shipping continue.
