Iran Strikes US Positions With Missiles and Drones Amid Renewed Tensions
Iran has launched missile and drone attacks against US positions, according to Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency, marking a renewed escalation between Tehran and Washington.
Fars reported that field observations showed Iranian missiles and drones being fired at what it described as enemy positions. The report followed an announcement by the US Central Command that American forces had begun striking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets inside Iran.
Tensions between the two countries have remained high since the conflict began with US strikes on Iran in late February.
A framework agreement was reached in June through mediation by Pakistan and Qatar, but efforts to ease tensions later faltered. In July, the US launched a two-week bombing campaign and reimposed a naval blockade after disagreements over navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
The latest exchange of strikes raises fresh concerns that the confrontation could intensify despite earlier diplomatic efforts.
