A Hezbollah member of parliament has described the ongoing ceasefire with Israel as “meaningless,” citing continued Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon despite the agreement. Ali Fayyad said the truce holds little value as long as Israeli forces continue what he described as the “destructive annihilation” of border villages and towns.

The US-mediated ceasefire, which took effect on April 16, has reduced overall hostilities but has not stopped clashes entirely. Israeli forces have maintained operations in parts of southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah has warned it retains the right to respond to what it considers violations.

Israeli officials have stated that continued military actions are necessary for security and self-defence, as tensions remain high along the border.

The fragile ceasefire comes amid a broader regional escalation involving Israel, Lebanon and Iran, with analysts warning that the current agreement may struggle to hold without a full withdrawal of forces or a more comprehensive political settlement.
