Hamas Threatens Withdrawal From Gaza Talks Amid Continued Israeli Air Strikes
Hamas has warned mediators that it may withdraw from the Gaza understandings currently under discussion, citing continued Israeli air strikes across the territory, according to Israeli media reports.
Israel’s Channel 14 reported that the message could affect ongoing negotiations aimed at establishing a framework for the next phase of the Gaza agreement. Israeli political and security officials are assessing how to respond.
Israeli leaders are reportedly considering two options: continuing military pressure in the hope of forcing Hamas to make concessions, or temporarily suspending operations to create better conditions for negotiations.
The warning comes as regional and international mediators continue efforts to bridge differences between Israel and Hamas. Meanwhile, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Settlement Minister Orit Strook have urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to convene the political-security cabinet to discuss the proposed Gaza roadmap.
