Libyan Intelligence Chief for Haftar Forces Assassinated in Benghazi
The head of the military intelligence department for Libya’s eastern-based forces, led by Khalifa Haftar, was assassinated in a targeted attack in Benghazi, Anadolu Agency reported, citing a Libyan security official.
Fawzi al-Mansouri was killed on Monday after an explosive device planted beneath his vehicle detonated in the al-Sayyida Aisha residential neighborhood in eastern Benghazi.
A Libyan security official described the incident as a “terrorist attack.” However, no official statement confirming the assassination had been issued at the time of the report.
The killing comes amid Libya’s continued political and security divisions between rival authorities and armed factions.
