The Palestinian Health Ministry has warned that the shutdown of oxygen production stations across Gaza is putting the lives of critically ill patients and children at serious risk.
In a statement, the ministry said most hospital oxygen stations have stopped operating because the ongoing Israeli blockade has prevented essential equipment and spare parts from entering Gaza for maintenance.
The ministry warned that 72 intensive care units could face complete disruption because of the severe shortage of oxygen supplies. It also said 54 neonatal incubator units are at direct risk, as newborns require stable oxygen levels to survive.
Meanwhile, 19 specialised paediatric units are experiencing reduced capacity to provide respiratory care for children with acute and chronic conditions.
The ministry said the collapse of oxygen production is placing Gaza’s already strained healthcare system under unprecedented pressure and threatening critical life-saving services.
