Gaza Health Ministry Says May Was Deadliest Month of 2026
The Gaza Health Ministry reported that May recorded the highest number of deaths in the territory since the beginning of 2026, amid continued attacks across the Gaza Strip.
According to the ministry, 119 Palestinians were killed during the month, making it the deadliest period of the year so far. Children, women, and elderly people accounted for around 30 percent of the fatalities.
The ministry said 19 children were among those killed, representing 16 percent of the total death toll, while 10 women lost their lives, accounting for 8.5 percent of the deaths recorded in May.
Health officials noted that vulnerable groups continue to bear a significant share of the casualties as violence persists across the enclave.
