South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix is approaching a market valuation of $1 trillion as demand for artificial intelligence technology continues to drive growth in the semiconductor industry. The company has benefited from soaring sales of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips used in AI systems developed by companies such as Nvidia.

SK Hynix shares have risen sharply in 2026, making it one of Asia’s strongest-performing technology firms. Analysts say growing investment in AI infrastructure and data centres has significantly increased global demand for advanced memory chips.

The company has become a key supplier of HBM chips for Nvidia, whose AI processors dominate much of the global market. Industry experts believe SK Hynix’s early lead in advanced memory production has strengthened its position against rivals including Samsung Electronics and Micron Technology. Investors are closely watching whether the AI boom can continue sustaining record growth across the semiconductor sector as competition intensifies worldwide.
