A school shooting in Siverek, Şanlıurfa, Türkiye, left at least 16 people injured after a former student opened fire on 14 April 2026, authorities said.
According to officials, the attacker — identified as a teenage former student — entered the Ahmet Koyuncu Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School armed with a shotgun and began firing indiscriminately. The injured included 10 students, four teachers, a police officer and a school worker, all of whom were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Emergency services and special police units were deployed after reports of gunfire, with the school quickly evacuated. Authorities said the suspect was later cornered by police and died at the scene after turning the weapon on himself.
Officials described the incident as rare for Türkiye and confirmed that a full investigation is underway to determine the motive, which remains unclear. Some reports indicate the suspect had previously been expelled from the school. Several of the injured remain under medical care, with some reported in serious condition.
