Ukraine’s High Anti-Corruption Court has placed former presidential chief of staff Andriy Yermak under investigation as part of an ongoing corruption case, according to reports published on May 14.

The case marks one of the most closely watched anti-corruption investigations involving a former senior official linked to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s administration. Ukrainian authorities have not publicly released full details of the allegations, but officials said the investigation forms part of broader efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability during the war with Russia.

Ukraine has faced increasing pressure from Western allies and international lenders to intensify anti-corruption reforms as the country continues to seek military and financial support. Anti-corruption institutions in Kyiv have launched multiple investigations in recent years involving government officials, military procurement and public contracts.

Yermak previously served as one of Zelenskyy’s closest advisers and played a major role in diplomatic negotiations and wartime coordination following Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. The investigation is expected to attract significant political attention because of his former position within the Ukrainian leadership. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly said anti-corruption reforms remain essential to the country’s long-term European Union ambitions and international partnerships.
