Trump Delays Iran Military Escalation Amid Patriot Missile Interceptor Concerns

US President Donald Trump has temporarily paused plans for a major escalation of military operations against Iran amid concerns that a wider conflict could reduce US supplies of Patriot missile interceptors and other air defence systems, according to a report by The New York Times.

Trump discussed the Iran conflict with senior advisers and cabinet officials during a meeting on Friday. The report said Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, warned that renewed large-scale operations could strain US air defence resources available to US Central Command.

Officials also raised concerns that expanding the conflict could trigger a wider regional war, increase risks to US allies in the Gulf, and create further disruption to global energy markets and the economy.
