A deadly suicide bombing targeted a train in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, killing more than 20 people and injuring dozens of others, according to officials. The attack took place near a railway route in the city of Quetta as the train was carrying both civilians and security personnel ahead of Eid al-Adha celebrations.

Pakistani authorities said the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber using an explosives-laden vehicle near the railway line. Emergency services and security forces rushed to the scene, with rescue teams transporting wounded passengers to nearby hospitals as investigations began.

The separatist militant group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) later claimed responsibility for the attack. The group has carried out several major attacks in Balochistan in recent years, often targeting security forces, transportation infrastructure, and government institutions.

Authorities have increased security across transport hubs and launched a wider investigation into the bombing as concerns grow over rising militant violence in the region.
