Sri Lanka rescued more than 200 Iranian sailors after a naval incident linked to the escalating conflict in the region.

Authorities said the sailors were evacuated from Iranian naval vessels near Sri Lankan waters following damage sustained during the confrontation. The crew members were brought ashore as part of a humanitarian rescue effort coordinated by Sri Lankan officials.

Local authorities said the sailors were temporarily accommodated while arrangements were made for their return. The incident drew attention as tensions continued to rise across several parts of the Middle East and surrounding maritime routes.

Sri Lanka has not taken a direct role in the conflict but provided assistance to the sailors on humanitarian grounds. Analysts say the rescue highlights how the expanding crisis is increasingly affecting international shipping lanes and countries far beyond the main areas of fighting.
