At least 10 people, including a child, were killed in an early-morning shooting in Tehuitzingo, Puebla state, central Mexico, on May 17, according to Mexican authorities. State officials said the victims included six men, three women and one minor. Armed attackers were blamed for the assault, though authorities have not publicly identified suspects or confirmed a motive.
The attack reportedly took place in the community of Texcalapa in Tehuitzingo, a municipality in Puebla located south of Mexico City. Local media cited by officials said gunmen entered a home during the early hours of Sunday and opened fire on members of a family inside the residence. A woman injured in the shooting later died while being transported to hospital.
Mexico’s Puebla state prosecutor’s office said an investigation had been launched following emergency calls from residents. No arrests had been announced as of Sunday evening.
The killings come amid continuing concerns over rising violence in parts of central Mexico, where authorities have reported several deadly attacks in recent months linked to organised crime and armed groups.
