Second Crypto Billionaire Gives Record $49m to Reform UK

A second British billionaire has pledged a record £36m ($48.7m) donation to Reform UK, matching a contribution made by fellow cryptocurrency entrepreneur Ben Delo just one day earlier.

Christopher Harborne, a Thailand-based cryptocurrency investor, described his donation as a philanthropic gift to Britain and said he was inspired to match Delo’s contribution. Delo is the co-founder of cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX.

The two donations have brought the total amount pledged to Reform UK since Friday to about $97m. The huge contributions come as the party faces growing scrutiny over its finances.

The Metropolitan Police has launched a criminal investigation into whether Reform accepted illegal foreign donations. Reform leader Nigel Farage welcomed the donations, while Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch criticised the party and argued that large financial contributions cannot buy political judgment or integrity.

The donations could significantly strengthen Reform’s political operations as the party continues to gain prominence in British politics.
