Russian forces have launched a series of strikes across multiple regions of Ukraine over the past several days, killing and injuring civilians, according to Ukrainian officials.
Authorities in the Kharkiv region reported at least two people killed in one attack, while additional casualties were reported in other areas affected by missile and drone strikes. Emergency services said residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged, with rescue operations continuing in several locations.
Ukrainian officials accused Russia of deliberately targeting populated areas, a claim Moscow denies. The Russian government has maintained that its strikes are aimed at military and energy infrastructure.
The renewed attacks come amid ongoing frontline fighting in eastern Ukraine and continued long-range drone and missile exchanges between the two countries. Ukrainian air defence systems reportedly intercepted a number of incoming projectiles, though some reached their targets.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022, repeated waves of aerial bombardment have caused widespread destruction and civilian casualties across Ukraine, with both sides accusing each other of escalating the conflict.
