Rima Hassan Denounces Political and Judicial Harassment Ahead of France Trial
French-Palestinian Member of the European Parliament Rima Hassan has accused French authorities of political and judicial harassment ahead of her trial on charges of "apology for terrorism," saying the case is aimed at silencing her support for Palestine.
Hassan said she has faced multiple legal proceedings since 2024, with most cases dismissed. She also alleged that investigators subjected her to extensive surveillance, including monitoring her communications and travel records, despite her parliamentary immunity.
She further claimed false information was leaked to the media during her detention, damaging her reputation. Hassan has filed legal complaints over the alleged leaks and insists the charges are politically motivated.
The case has drawn support from members of her political party, who argue it reflects growing pressure on pro-Palestinian voices in France. Hassan says she hopes her trial will raise broader concerns about freedom of expression and political dissent.
