Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif deleted a social media post in which he described Israel as a “curse on humanity,” shortly before high-level U.S.–Iran talks began, drawing attention to the country’s positioning amid rising regional tensions.
The post, published on X (formerly Twitter), criticized Israel’s military actions in Gaza and the broader Middle East conflict. It was removed within hours without official explanation, though analysts suggest the timing was likely linked to diplomatic sensitivities surrounding ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Pakistan does not maintain formal diplomatic relations with Israel and has historically supported the Palestinian cause. However, the deletion signals a possible attempt to avoid escalating rhetoric at a time when regional stability remains fragile.
Officials in Islamabad have not commented on the incident. The move comes as multiple countries seek to balance domestic political messaging with international diplomatic pressures tied to the expanding Middle East crisis.
