Malaysia Investigates Israeli Links to Forest City as Immigration Policy Comes Under Spotlight

Malaysia has launched investigations into allegations that Israeli nationals were involved in the Network School, a private residential and technology community located in Forest City, Johor. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed that Malaysia does not recognize Israel and said any Israeli nationals found in the country would be deported.

Johor authorities reviewed the school's business operations, while federal agencies, including immigration and police, were instructed to investigate the claims. Immigration officials said they inspected 379 foreign nationals and found no immigration violations, although 19 individuals could not be traced and remain under investigation.

Authorities also issued notices after discovering one property linked to the Network School was operating without a valid business licence. The controversy has drawn international attention, with Malaysia maintaining its immigration policy despite diplomatic discussions with the United States.

The Network School was founded by technology entrepreneur Balaji Srinivasan, who has promoted the concept of a "Network State"—a digital-first community that could eventually seek international recognition.
