Jabaroot Claims Massive Leak of Moroccan Security Personnel Data
The hacker group Jabaroot has claimed responsibility for releasing data on around 70,000 people linked to Morocco’s security and intelligence services, publishing the information through Telegram.
The leaked files reportedly contain names and personal and employment details, including identification numbers, dates of birth, recruitment information and, in some cases, ranks and banking data. Senior security officials are also reportedly included.
However, the authenticity and nature of the leak remain disputed. Moroccan authorities have denied that the country’s intelligence and police systems were hacked, saying the information may have come from older databases and external sources such as employee records.
Independent checks have also raised doubts about the claim that all 70,000 people are intelligence agents. The lists reportedly include police officers, administrative employees and people whose details may be inaccurate or outdated. Some individuals listed are reportedly deceased.
Jabaroot, whose true identity remains unconfirmed, has previously claimed cyberattacks against Moroccan institutions. The latest leak has intensified debate over Morocco’s cybersecurity, intelligence operations and the group’s alleged links to wider tensions between Morocco and Algeria.
