Israeli Fears Hezbollah Soldier Capture Attempt in Southern Lebanon Tunnel Network

Israeli security concerns are reportedly increasing over a possible attempt by Hezbollah to capture soldiers during ongoing fighting in southern Lebanon.

According to Israeli media outlet Walla, dozens of Hezbollah fighters are believed to be trapped inside tunnel networks in the southern Lebanese village of Kfartebnit. Reports suggest that some mediators have requested safe passage for the encircled fighters, but Israeli officials have rejected the requests, reportedly responding with a demand to “surrender or be killed.”

Israeli forces are also increasingly concerned that Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force could attempt a retaliatory operation to capture Israeli soldiers for use in future prisoner exchange negotiations.

In response, Israeli troops operating near the border have reportedly been instructed to move in small groups, maintain constant coordination between air and ground units, and stay alert for potential ambushes targeting tanks, armored vehicles, and military positions.

Military sources cited by Israeli media say that some Hezbollah tunnel systems may have been designed specifically to support capture operations by enabling surprise attacks and quick withdrawal routes. The tunnel entrances are described as highly concealed and difficult to detect, adding to operational uncertainty on the ground.
