At least 12 people were killed after Israeli attacks struck a village in eastern Lebanon on May 26, according to Lebanese officials and local media reports.

The strikes reportedly targeted areas in the Bekaa Valley region, near the border with Syria, causing significant destruction to residential buildings and infrastructure. Lebanese health authorities said several others were wounded, with emergency crews continuing rescue operations in the affected area. The attacks came amid continued tensions between Israel and armed groups operating in Lebanon. Israeli officials have previously stated that military operations in the region are aimed at targeting security threats and weapons infrastructure linked to Hezbollah.

Lebanese authorities condemned the strikes, accusing Israel of violating Lebanese sovereignty and endangering civilians. Residents described scenes of panic as ambulances and civil defence teams rushed to the village following the bombardment.

The latest violence has increased fears of broader regional escalation, as cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah continue despite repeated international calls for de-escalation and restraint.
