Israel Kills or Injures Seven Children Daily in Lebanon Amid Ceasefire Violations

Israeli attacks have killed or injured an average of seven children every day in Lebanon since March, according to Save the Children.

The organisation said at least 257 children have been killed and 1,039 injured over the past six months, as Israeli attacks continue despite agreements intended to halt fighting.

Save the Children reported that more than 4,300 people have been killed and over 12,000 wounded during the same period, while between 60 and 70 villages have been destroyed.

The group warned that children remain exposed to danger because of attacks on civilian infrastructure, displacement and restrictions preventing families from returning home.

At the height of the fighting, more than one million people were displaced in southern Lebanon. The UN says more than 348,800 people still cannot return to their homes despite a framework agreement reached in June.

Lebanon’s education system has also suffered major damage. A government assessment found that 340 schools had been damaged or destroyed over six months, while Save the Children warned that at least 100,000 children could miss the next school year without urgent repairs.

Save the Children called on the international community to prevent continued attacks, displacement and destruction of civilian infrastructure from becoming a permanent reality for Lebanese children.

The latest violence follows years of cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. Although several ceasefire arrangements have been reached, Israeli forces continue to occupy parts of southern Lebanon and attacks have persisted.
