IRGC Claims Strikes on Eight US Installations and Issues Warning Over Strait of Hormuz
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed it carried out a coordinated missile and drone operation targeting eight US military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait, according to Iranian state media.
The IRGC said the alleged strikes hit sites including the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the US Fifth Fleet headquarters at Salman Port in Bahrain. The operation was described as retaliation for recent US strikes on Iranian targets.
In its statement, the IRGC warned that any further attacks against Iran would be met with “overwhelming force.” It also issued a separate warning regarding maritime activity, saying vessels that violate Iran’s navigation rules in the Strait of Hormuz would face harsher consequences.
The group added that continued escalation could undermine existing diplomatic understandings and threaten ongoing negotiations, referencing provisions linked to a regional memorandum of understanding.
The claims come amid rapidly rising tensions in the Gulf, with both Iran and the United States exchanging strikes and accusations over attacks on military sites and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy route.
