Iranian Media Reports Oil Tanker Strike Near Oman After Alleged Warning Dispute

Iranian state media has reported that an oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz was struck after allegedly ignoring repeated warnings.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) said the vessel was attempting to pass through the Omani side of the waterway and was reportedly traveling with support from the United States Navy.

No Iranian officials have officially commented on the incident so far. Earlier reports from Axios cited US officials who blamed Iran for the attack, saying an unknown projectile hit the tanker.

The reports also said a second vessel may have been targeted, with both ships suffering significant damage but no casualties reported.
