Iran has warned that restrictions on its airlines could disrupt air travel across the region. Mohammad Mokhber, a senior adviser to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, said neighboring countries could also lose access to flights and airport services if Iran were denied them.

Warning follows new airline sanctions

Mokhber made the remarks after several countries in the region suspended Iranian flights in response to new US sanctions. Washington warned that companies doing business with Iranian airlines could lose access to the US dollar system.

In a social media post, Mokhber said Iran’s position was that flights in the region should be available to all or to none. He also said countries cooperating with what he called hostile US policies would not be forgotten.

No details on possible response

Mokhber did not explain how Iran might prevent other countries from operating flights or receiving airport services. His comments came as regional aviation links faced disruption from the restrictions on Iranian carriers.

The warning signals a potential widening of the dispute from sanctions on Iranian airlines to broader regional air travel, although no specific action was announced.
