Iran Says US Strikes Will Face Response Amid Strait of Hormuz Tensions
An adviser to Iran's foreign ministry has warned that recent US strikes "will not go unanswered," accusing Washington of failing to honour commitments under the memorandum of understanding signed on June 16.
Ali Safari said the agreement assigned Iran responsibility for future arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with Oman and other regional states. He also criticised the US-backed southern shipping route, claiming it had created serious security risks for maritime traffic.
Safari urged Washington to either comply with the agreement or abandon its commitments, adding that Iran was prepared to respond if tensions continued to escalate.
