Iran has said there is no confirmed date for renewed talks with the United States as tensions escalate around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil route.

Tehran signalled it would not participate in a new round of negotiations, accusing Washington of violating a fragile ceasefire through its naval blockade and recent military actions. The situation intensified after US forces seized an Iranian cargo ship attempting to pass through the blockade, an incident Iran condemned as “piracy” and a breach of agreements.

Meanwhile, Iran has maintained restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz, warning that vessels entering the area could be targeted. The waterway typically carries around 20% of the world’s oil supply, raising concerns over global energy stability.

The conflict has already resulted in thousands of deaths and widespread displacement across the region, with ceasefire efforts increasingly under strain. Analysts warn that the lack of diplomatic progress and continued military tensions could further disrupt oil markets and increase the risk of a broader regional escalation.
