Houthis Launch Missiles at Saudi Arabia After Sanaa Airport Strikes
Yemen's Houthi movement launched missiles toward Saudi Arabia after accusing Riyadh of carrying out airstrikes on Sanaa International Airport, ending nearly four years of relative calm between the two sides.
Saudi Arabia said its air defenses intercepted missiles targeting the country's southern region. The Houthis claimed they had targeted Abha International Airport in response to what they described as Saudi aggression against Sanaa.
The Yemeni government said the airport runway in Sanaa was struck to prevent an Iranian aircraft from landing, alleging it violated Yemen's sovereignty. The Houthis warned of further retaliation and advised airlines to avoid Saudi airspace until restrictions on Sanaa Airport are lifted.
The exchange has heightened fears of renewed conflict along the Saudi-Yemen border, threatening regional stability and key shipping routes in the Red Sea.
