Hezbollah Warns Lebanese Authorities Against Enforcing Framework Agreement with Israel

Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah has warned that Lebanese authorities would face strong resistance if they attempt to enforce the framework agreement signed with Israel in Washington.

Speaking after talks aimed at ending the conflict between Israel and Lebanon, Fadlallah said the agreement could only be imposed with U.S. backing if it led to internal conflict, claiming Lebanese authorities would otherwise be unable to implement it.

He said Hezbollah would oppose any measures taken to enforce the agreement and insisted the group would continue to retain its weapons. Fadlallah described Hezbollah's opposition as "serious" and said it would not allow the government's commitments under the deal to be carried out on the ground.
