Germany Approves Nearly €800 Million in Arms Export Licences to Israel in 2026

Germany has approved nearly €800 million in arms export licences to Israel during the first five months of 2026, exceeding the total value approved over the previous 20 months combined.

According to the German government, the majority of the export approvals were granted in April and May. The increase is linked to major defence projects, including submarine-related cooperation, reflecting a significant shift in Berlin's military export policy toward Israel.

The figures were disclosed in a government response to a parliamentary question submitted by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
