Former Shin Bet Chief Ronen Bar Evacuated from UAE After Security Threat Warning
Former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and his wife were reportedly evacuated from the United Arab Emirates after Israeli security agencies received warnings about a possible threat against him. Israeli media reports said the alert suggested a potential Iranian-linked risk during his visit.
According to Channel 13, Bar had been attending a private security gathering in the UAE involving senior officials from several countries. Following intelligence assessments, Israeli security services decided to urgently extract him and his wife and return them to Israel under heightened security.
The report also claimed the event may have been hosted by UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, although this was strongly denied by an Israeli source with UAE ties, who called the claim inaccurate.
Neither Bar nor UAE authorities have officially commented on the incident. Other Israeli media, including Maariv, reported that the evacuation was carried out discreetly after an unusual security warning and kept private for some time before becoming public.
