Joe Kent Says Cutting US Military Assistance to Israel Could Help Preserve Iran Ceasefire

Former Trump administration official Joe Kent has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, while urging Washington to take additional steps to prevent future conflict.

In a post on X, Kent argued that the agreement would have a better chance of succeeding if the US reassessed its military and intelligence support for Israel. He claimed that Israeli leaders had opposed diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving tensions with Iran.

Kent also called for a reduction in the US military presence at Gulf bases that could be targeted by Iranian missiles. He said lowering troop exposure would reduce the risk of escalation and make it harder for hardliners to push the region back toward conflict.

According to Kent, Washington should focus on removing factors that could draw the US into another war and instead prioritize long-term regional stability.
