Israeli airstrikes and drone attacks across Gaza on January 8 claimed the lives of 15 Palestinians, including five children, Palestinian health officials reported. The strikes targeted civilian homes, tents sheltering displaced families, and neighborhoods in central and southern areas, breaching the U.S.-brokered ceasefire in effect since October 2025.
In Nuseirat refugee camp, warplanes bombed a house, killing two civilians. Separate assaults hit a warehouse and residential area in Gaza City's Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, resulting in four deaths. Drone strikes on tents in Al-Mawasi near Khan Younis and west of Al-Zawayda killed five more, including three children.
Additional casualties included a child killed by gunfire in Jabalia camp and victims from shelling near schools in Deir al-Balah, Al-Bureij, and Beit Lahia. Gaza's Health Ministry stated dozens were injured daily, with the attacks exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
Ongoing Israeli violence
Israeli forces continue daily detentions of Palestinians, often involving beatings and abuse, alongside assaults on civilian sites like a wedding hall in the occupied West Bank and pepper-spraying journalists covering the violence. These patterns of brutality persist amid over 430 deaths from ceasefire violations since October 2025.
