Arab League Warns Trump Over Israel Policies as Middle East Tensions Rise

Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy has called on US President Donald Trump to pressure Israel over its policies toward Palestinians, warning that the Middle East is moving closer to a serious regional crisis.

Speaking ahead of Trump’s planned meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, Fahmy said the region had reached a “very dangerous point” due to ongoing tensions surrounding Gaza, the occupied West Bank and wider Gulf disputes.

He said the United States has a major responsibility to prevent further escalation and urged Washington to curb what he described as the Israeli government’s “extremist ambitions.”

Fahmy also called for an end to settlement expansion, settler violence against Palestinians, and what he described as repeated violations in Jerusalem.

His comments come amid disagreements over the Gaza ceasefire agreement, continued Israeli military actions, humanitarian concerns, US-Iran tensions, and instability linked to Red Sea shipping attacks.

The Arab League chief said Israeli policies aimed at expanding settlements and displacing Palestinians threaten regional stability and efforts toward a long-term peace process.
