Zelenskyy’s Plane Nearly Hit by Drone

A plane carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy from Moldova to Oslo was nearly hit by a drone during takeoff, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said. The incident occurred as Zelenskyy was travelling to Norway to attend the funeral of King Harald V.

Drone Alert Delayed Flight

Støre said the aircraft was “almost hit” by a drone but did not reveal how close the drone came or the source of his information. Moldovan authorities later confirmed that a Russian drone had entered Moldovan airspace, prompting a temporary closure of the country's airspace and delaying Zelenskyy’s departure.

Officials said two Russian drones entered Moldovan airspace. One crashed on Moldovan territory, while another crossed into Romania before returning toward Moldova. No injuries were reported from the drone incidents.

Zelenskyy Discusses Air Defence

After arriving in Oslo, Zelenskyy met Støre and European defence industry representatives to discuss FREYJA, a planned European anti-ballistic defence system. Zelenskyy said protecting European airspace was a shared responsibility.
