Three humanitarian aid workers have been killed in a strike attributed to Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to local officials and relief organisations operating in the conflict-hit region.

The attack reportedly targeted an aid convoy in Sudan’s Kordofan region, where fighting between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces has intensified in recent weeks. Emergency responders said the victims were part of a humanitarian mission delivering assistance to civilians displaced by ongoing clashes.

Relief agencies condemned the incident, warning that continued violence is severely hampering life-saving operations in areas already facing acute shortages of food, medical supplies and basic services. Sudan’s war, which erupted in April 2023, has displaced millions and created what the United Nations describes as one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

The RSF has not immediately commented on the incident. Both sides in the conflict have previously denied deliberately targeting civilians or aid workers. International organisations have repeatedly called for safe humanitarian access and accountability for attacks on civilian infrastructure and personnel.
