A suicide bomber struck a wedding ceremony in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, northwestern Pakistan, on January 23, 2026, killing at least seven people and injuring over 20 others.

The blast targeted the home of pro-government peace committee leader Noor Alam Mehsud during a gathering of local elders and residents supported by Islamabad to counter militants near the Afghan border. Guests were dancing to drums when the attacker detonated an explosives vest, ripping through the crowd; four victims later died in hospital, pushing the toll to seven by January 24.

No group claimed responsibility, but suspicion fell on the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who view peace committees as traitors and have escalated cross-border attacks since the Afghan Taliban's 2021 return. The assault coincided with Pakistani military operations displacing thousands amid winter hardships, drawing global condemnation.
