Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon has called on members of Gulf royal families to join the front lines of the ongoing conflict involving Iran, criticising what he described as elites living abroad while others bear the cost of war.
Speaking on his podcast, Bannon said wealthy and influential figures from Gulf states should be removed from what he portrayed as comfortable lifestyles overseas and sent to participate directly in the conflict. His remarks come amid escalating tensions in the region and growing debate over responsibility during wartime.
Bannon also singled out Yair Netanyahu, the son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is currently living in the United States. He argued that individuals connected to political leadership should share the burden of conflict rather than remain abroad. Yair Netanyahu has previously faced criticism for staying overseas during earlier conflicts, including Israel’s war in Gaza, despite being of age for military reserve service.
The comments have fueled wider discussion about inequality during wartime, with critics questioning whether political and elite families should play a more direct role in conflicts affecting their countries.
