Russia has pledged $1 billion toward the reconstruction of Gaza, positioning itself as a key international contributor to rebuilding efforts following months of devastating conflict.

According to reports, President Vladimir Putin signaled that Moscow would allocate the funds as part of broader international discussions surrounding post-war recovery. The proposal reportedly includes the potential use of Russian-held or frozen assets, though specific mechanisms for transferring or distributing the funds have not been fully detailed.

Gaza has suffered widespread destruction to housing, infrastructure and public services during the conflict, with international agencies estimating reconstruction costs will reach tens of billions of dollars. Humanitarian organisations have warned that rebuilding will require sustained international coordination and long-term commitments.

Russia’s pledge comes amid broader geopolitical maneuvering over who will play a central role in Gaza’s recovery process.

Western governments and Gulf states have also discussed funding frameworks, though final agreements on oversight and governance structures remain under negotiation. Further details on how and when the Russian funds would be delivered have not yet been announced.
