New Mexico Accuses US Justice Department of Delaying Epstein Investigation
New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez has accused the US Justice Department of delaying access to records needed for the state's investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's activities at Zorro Ranch.
In a letter sent to the Justice Department, Torrez said repeated requests for documents had gone unanswered for months, despite assurances of cooperation. He argued the delays were harming the investigation by making it more difficult to preserve evidence and locate witnesses.
New Mexico reopened its investigation after the release of federal Epstein files, focusing on allegations linked to Zorro Ranch, where Epstein owned property for decades. The state says the records are essential to continuing a probe that was previously paused during the federal case.
The Justice Department denied obstructing the investigation and said it remains willing to assist. Meanwhile, New Mexico's bipartisan truth commission continues examining Epstein's activities, with a final report expected later this year.
