Nearly 66,000 people have been displaced in Afghanistan following intense fighting along the border with Pakistan, according to the United Nations.
The UN said families have fled their homes in several border districts after days of shelling and clashes between Pakistani and Afghan forces. Many of the displaced have sought refuge in nearby villages or temporary shelters as the violence continues.
Aid agencies warned that the sudden displacement is putting pressure on local communities and humanitarian resources, with urgent needs for food, shelter and medical assistance.
The latest clashes have added to long-standing tensions along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, where both sides have frequently accused each other of allowing militant groups to operate near frontier areas. Humanitarian organizations say they are working with local authorities to provide assistance to displaced families while urging both sides to reduce violence and allow safe access for aid deliveries.
