Iran’s Quds Force Chief Warns of Wider Maritime Tensions
Esmail Qaani, commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, has warned that continued Israeli military operations in Lebanon and Gaza could lead to increased pressure on maritime traffic in the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
According to Iranian state media, Qaani said Israeli actions, backed by the United States, are strengthening the resolve of the Axis of Resistance, a network of Iran-aligned groups across the region. He said the alliance could expand its support efforts, activate additional fronts, and create conditions in the Bab al-Mandab similar to those seen in the Strait of Hormuz.
His remarks come amid growing regional tensions and concerns over the security of key global shipping routes as conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon continue.
