Iran Pushes for Lebanon-Wide Ceasefire, Warns Talks Could Halt
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf told Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri that Tehran is seeking a ceasefire across all of Lebanon, including the south, amid escalating regional tensions.
During a phone call, Ghalibaf warned that Iran could suspend negotiations if attacks continue, stressing that any agreement to end the conflict involving Iran and the United States should include a halt to military actions on all fronts, particularly in Lebanon. He also said Iran would stand against Israel if what he described as ongoing crimes persist.
Berri thanked Iran for its support during what he called a critical period for Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that Tehran has suspended the exchange of messages with Washington through mediators, citing continued Israeli attacks in Lebanon and the collapse of ceasefire conditions. The move comes as tensions between Iran, the United States, Israel and Hezbollah continue to rise.
