Dubai’s iconic Burj Al Arab hotel was damaged Sunday during an unprecedented wave of Iranian missile and drone strikes across the Gulf, authorities said, highlighting a dramatic escalation in regional hostilities following a joint U.S.-Israeli offensive on Iran.

The Dubai Media Office reported that debris from an intercepted Iranian drone struck the luxury hotel’s outer facade, triggering a fire that was quickly brought under control by emergency responders. No fatalities have been reported at the Burj Al Arab, and authorities said there were no major structural collapses, though portions of the building’s exterior bore burn marks and smoke damage.

The Burj Al Arab, often marketed as one of the world’s most luxurious hotels, was hit amid a broader barrage in which Iran launched missiles and drones at several Gulf states in retaliation for Western military actions earlier in the day. Dubai’s defenses intercepted the majority of incoming projectiles, but falling debris caused damage to civilian infrastructure, including the hotel and nearby facilities.

The strikes led to temporary closures of UAE airspace and flight disruptions, stranding travelers and heightening regional tensions. Officials continue to monitor the situation as diplomatic and military responses unfold.
