The United Arab Emirates has removed numerous online references to senior Emirati diplomat Hind al-Owais after hundreds of her email exchanges with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were revealed in recently released U.S. Department of Justice documents.
Al-Owais, who currently serves as director of the UAE’s Permanent Committee for Human Rights (PCHR) and has previously held senior advisory roles at the United Nations, appears extensively in the Epstein Files. According to reporting, archived web pages and social media posts identifying her as a panelist and official — including on the PCHR’s Instagram, X and LinkedIn accounts, and on the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy site — have been deleted or now return errors.
The US Department of Justice released millions of records tied to Epstein this month, including correspondence dated between 2011 and 2012 that shows al-Owais emailing Epstein on multiple occasions. There is no indication in the documents or from officials that she has been charged with any crime or that she was involved in Epstein’s criminal activities. UAE authorities did not respond to requests for comment by the time of publication.
