Several senior Iranian officials and top military commanders were killed in coordinated U.S.–Israel airstrikes on Tehran and other locations, Iranian and Israeli military sources said.
Among those confirmed dead were Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who led Iran since 1989; Abdolrahim Mousavi, chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces; Aziz Nasirzadeh, the country’s defence minister; and Mohammad Pakpour, commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Senior adviser Ali Shamkhani, military intelligence chief Saleh Asadi, IRGC brigadier general Hossein Jabal Amelian, military office head Mohammad Shirazi, and police intelligence commander Gholamreza Rezaian were also reported killed.
The strikes targeted key Iranian leadership and security sites in Tehran, eliminating a large portion of Iran’s defence and intelligence command structure. While U.S. and Israeli officials have acknowledged targeting military infrastructure, they have not fully detailed all casualty lists publicly.
Iranian authorities condemned the killings as acts of aggression and vowed consequences, while regional analysts warn that the deaths of so many senior figures could deeply disrupt Tehran’s command network and have far-reaching implications for the conflict.
