Tether Freezes USDT in 131 TRON Wallets Following Updated OFAC Sanctions
has frozen all USDT held in 131 wallets on the TRON blockchain following updated sanctions issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
The action was taken in coordination with OFAC's latest sanctions targeting a cryptocurrency financing network linked to the militant group Islamic State – Khorasan Province (ISIS-K). According to the sanctions update, 134 crypto addresses were designated, including 131 TRON wallets and three Monero addresses.
The move reflects Tether's continued efforts to comply with international sanctions and regulatory enforcement measures by blocking access to funds held in sanctioned wallets.
The sanctions apply only to the identified wallet addresses and do not target the TRON blockchain itself. While the action highlights increasing regulatory oversight of the cryptocurrency sector, it should not be interpreted as an indication of broader sanctions against the network or a predictor of future market movements.
