Russia in Talks With Turkey Over Future of S-400 Missile Systems

The Kremlin said it is in contact with Turkey over the future of Russian-made S-400 air defence systems owned by Ankara, following reports that Turkey may consider transferring the missiles to a Gulf country.

Russian officials described the issue as highly sensitive but confirmed that discussions with the Turkish side are ongoing.

Reports suggested Turkey could pursue a possible sale as part of efforts to improve relations with the United States and seek relief from sanctions imposed after Ankara purchased the S-400 system.

The 2017 deal led Washington to remove Turkey from the F-35 fighter jet programme and impose sanctions, creating a major dispute between the two NATO members.
